Scientist, Regenstrief Institute

Dr. Angela Rollins is Associate Director and Core Investigator at the VA Health Services Research and Development Center for Health Information and Communication (CHIC) and Research Director for the ACT Center of Indiana in the IUPUI Psychology Department. She is also scientist in the Regenstrief Institute’s Center for Health Services Research. Rollins is primarily interested in studying methods for improving implementation of evidence-based mental health practices for people with mental health conditions. Areas of expertise include the measurement of program fidelity, improving clinical knowledge and skills, and reducing staff burnout. She also has projects focused on health services implementation in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as implementation projects related to chronic pain and headache. Her work usually includes strong partnerships with clinical providers and policymakers, both within and outside the VA. Her research is funded primarily by VA, NIH, and SAMHSA. Clinical populations of interest include people with mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders, including those who are homeless, as well as populations who might best be served by mental health and substance abuse services integrated within primary care settings. As a researcher interested in improving healthcare worker wellness and engagement, she also considers healthcare workers themselves as an important population of interest.
